Your health information is personal. This notice explains what we collect, why we collect it, how it is protected, and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act.
Information we collect
To provide safe and effective physiotherapy care, we collect your name and contact details, date of birth and identity or medical aid details, your relevant medical and treatment history, and clinical notes, assessment findings and treatment records created during your care.
If you contact us by WhatsApp, phone or email, we keep only what is necessary to respond to you and to arrange or record your appointment.
How your information is used
Your information is used to assess, diagnose and treat you, to keep accurate clinical records as required of registered healthcare practitioners, to arrange appointments and reminders, and to issue invoices and medical aid claims.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use your clinical information for marketing.
How your information is protected
Records are stored securely with access limited to the treating practitioners at the practice. Digital records are password protected and physical records are kept locked. Clinical discussions stay within the treatment room.
How long records are kept
Clinical records are retained for the minimum period required of healthcare practitioners in South Africa, after which they are securely destroyed.
Your rights under POPIA

We process your information lawfully, for the specific purpose of your healthcare, and we collect no more than is necessary for that purpose.
To exercise any of these rights, or if you have a concern about how your information has been handled, contact the practice and we will respond as soon as reasonably possible. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
